So far, I am not exposed to the world of Hospitality Industry and I feel excited while going to the Apo View hotel. Here in Davao City, I only visited Grand Men Seng Hotel and spend the night there with my mom but now going to the Apo View Hotel for the Breakfast set-up with my classmates is another good and memorable experience. All I know about the Apo View Hotel is their restaurant named Entree which I heard in one of the radio stations when I was in 4th year high school (and I make a project about it for my speech subject).

My first impression when I entered the hotel was gloomy, since it was 8 in the morning and the clouds were cloudy. The staff were nice, the front desk person told me directions to the Cattleya room (I almost got lost along the way) and the waitstaff were hospitable. When I entered the room, only few preparations are made. One of the staff named Rome asked me some questions regarding the guests and he even asked if I would like to eat my breakfast at the moment. I told him the necessary answers and I waited for other of my classmates to arrive. During the program, I took photos of the set-up even the centerpiece but the rest is only with the water goblet and my faces with my classmates.

The service is American and we had a Filipino breakfast, my teacher demonstrate the use of flatwares when eating. The food was very delicious and we even had a hard time eating since we only used dinner fork and knife. After eating, we had a singing bee moment, even my teacher sang! but when Mr. Dave went in, we immediately go back to our normal selves and listened to his experiences. Mr. Dave shared his experiences about his "waiter" days, how to deal the guests, the do's and don'ts in waitering. He said that we should do our very best (and comfortable way) in rendering service to our guests. I learned a lot from his sharing especially when he encountered a guests who is very impatient to get his food and his co-worker who carries four glasses each serve. Indeed "experience is the great teacher" and after Phoebe said the announcements we headed back to our school.

This experience isn't only about outing and exposure but rather a glimpse of reality in the hospitality industry. Being a waitstaff is not only serving food but also he or she has the responsibility in rendering great service. Waiters are front liners and within them reflected the work of the manager, the staff and the management.
