The Exam

Oh! I forgot to tell you what happened to my NC II exam. I’m really sorry about that; ever since I got on duty I didn’t have had the time to tell you about what happened. Things got pretty awful and my father wouldn’t let me bring my laptop.
Anyways, we were tasked to prepare the dry ingredients beforehand: flour, baking soda and sugar but unfortunately I heard the bad news which is that we had a few budget left for our ingredients. When the day of the exam came, I was shocked to know that there is no mayonnaise for our carrot cake and chocolates were already used by the older batches and almost nothing was left for us. pardon for my exaggeration but the thing here is our moderator didn’t warned us earlier about the GREAT shortage of our ingredients.
So what happened was we waited for our moderator to purchase the ingredients during the first thing in the morning; we were like homeless people waiting outside the school. When we got to the exam centre, the assessor was pretty mad to us because we were late for an hour and a half. And the hardest part was we were being blamed for tardiness: The assessor and THE MODERATOR. ( the time of the assessment is at 8am, we arrived at school to get our ingredients at 6 am but unfortunately we waited for like an hour or so for our moderator to arrive.
I always say that it’s our batch fault for being so complacent but majority said that even if we were good as angels all things rely to our moderator who is the handler of our money.
So we just go on and make those eight dishes right away.
First was the carrot cake which was topsy-turvy yet we managed to go on without the mayonnaise, thanks to the teacher, we were told to put ½ cup oil in exchange to the missing ingredient.
Next we made the rum mousse which was very successful unfortunately when we make mayonnaise everyone failed. So we have to do it again and again and the assessor was pretty mad at us for being so slow; chicken portioning was not enough to satisfy her so we moved on.
we made sandwiches then I grilled their beef tendorloins and prepared the chicken breast fillet, Ricky made the stir fry squid and Janelle destroyed our white sauce. I forgot who made the pasta and fried the chicken but we were all in panic and minding each other's business at that time.
It's a good thing that other test takers helped us make those dishes, but after the exam we were the ones cleaning up their mess.
Next was the oral recitation about first aid, methods and importance of food safety.
After that we gobbled up all the food that we prepared, the assessor told us about how to get the certificate and all the things that she observed in our batch. It's a good thing that she's such a considerate person here's what she said that I liked the most.
"The most noble job is being a chef, because you don't only cook food but you also have to make the guest satisfied and at the same time ensuring his or her nutrition intake."
When we got the papers, we immediately dumped the leftover ingredients at school and go home.
